First and foremost, welcome to my new blog, and thanks so much for stopping by! Many of you know that I have another blog, House on Harrison, that is dedicated to tackling the never ending projects {and a few fun crafts} around our home. A few months ago, we purchased a used pop up camper. I had wanted a brand new one, but it wasn’t it the budget. Because our family got such a great deal on the camper, we decided to put a little bit of money into it and make it our next project. It has been such fun that it has completely taken over House on Harrison… and all our spare time, really. 🙂
And while this project has taken over our lives, I didn’t want it to take over the House on Harrison blog. I’m sure I have some readers over there that just don’t care about camper remodels or camping in general. That’s why this blog was created. Here, I’ll share the details of our Santa Fe remodel, fun {and practical} modifications, tips on camping with a pop up, and lots of other camping and pop up related stuff.
In case you weren’t a House on Harrison reader before, here’s a link to the original detailed post which contains all the ugly before pictures of the camper. It basically looked like this inside when we first got it.
It doesn’t look like that anymore. It has gone through quite a few changes since we first brought it home. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be migrating most of my camper related posts over here, so if you’ve already seen them, don’t worry! Mr. TypeTwoFun and I have been pretty busy, and have a lot of exciting changes to post in the coming weeks. And if you’re new here, welcome! I love to chat with other pop up campers and am excited to meet you.
Thanks for sticking with me through all the changes! 🙂
Happy Camping!

I have a 1996 coleman lakewest and its in good shape, moderate cracking, the grizzly grip kit is on the way, got the mek at lowes, but having trouble with making the patch paste. I realize I could omitt this step, but was really impressed with you guys detailed repair job and just everything related to your camper. The airsoft bb’s I got at walmart are only 35% abs, I confirmed this by calling manufacturer. Its breaking down the bb’s, however not creating a paste. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Chad mullins

Your ABS/MEK goo should be about the consistency of white glue, Chad. Is that what you are getting? I’d be concerned about using something that wasn’t totally ABS. You can find ABS pellets on eBay, but I’ve also heard you can use white Legos. Do you have any of those on hand to try out?

Hello! We’ve just purchased a gently used camper yesterday and I quickly began researching all things popup camping when I came across your blog. I have a feeling I will be visiting it frequently. Thank you for taking the time to share your process!

Aw, thanks, Melissa! Can’t wait to see what you do with your PUP! 🙂

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
I am glad I found this blog. We just bought a gem of a pop-up on Craigslist. We purchased a 99/00 Coleman/Fleetwood Sea Pine. My family are avid campers, but with the addition of 4 kids 5 or under it became a bit unmanageable. We cam across this deal and couldn’t pass it up. We are planning to use it as is for this season, but will likely undertake a makeover in the off season. Happy Camping, see ya at the Lake!!

Can’t wait to see what you do with your camper. You’ll have to send me pictures. 😉

Just found your site today and have to saw it looks like I have a few projects ahead of me. We have a Santa Fe too and found your blog while searching for how to redo the curtains Just one question (for now). How has all of the upgrades and projects you’ve done affected the weight of your camper?
Larissa says
We were very conscious about weight when remodeling. For example, when we selected MDF for our countertops, we made sure our final selection was lighter than the original countertops. The exception to that would be the flooring. The flooring was slightly heavier than the original sheet vinyl (which we removed), but the difference was negligible. The plank vinyl we used was not nearly as heavy as laminate or wood flooring. I wouldn’t suggest using laminate or wood in the PUP–especially if your are concerned about weight. 😉

Hi Larissa!
I think I originally came across your blog on Pinterest and have visited a few times since. I had been wanting to buy an old short bus and convert it into a camper until I saw your blog…Now I want a pop up to remodel like you have and have been scoping out Craig’s List! Any tips on what to look for when buying a used pop up? Have you written a post about this? If so, I apologize for not having taken enough time to find it! Any assistance would be very greatly appreciated.
Signed,
Future Glamped-Up Pop-Up Owner (Hannah)

Hi Larissa! First of all, Love , love LOVE your blog! I have gotten so many great fix ideas as our NTU 1989 Coleman Niagra needs some work. We want to replace the three way refrig with a residential one. Do you have anything posted on that? If I just haven’t found it, I apologize! Am in New Mexico, so we are “kinda” neighbors! Happy Camping!!

Loving this as a hopeful future owner if a camper if some description! I do have a strange request though – would it be possible for you to do a floor plan of your pup? Thanks 😃
Larissa says
You can see a floor plan of it here, Vicky. 🙂

Do you mind telling me where you got your cute tan / plaid comforters. That’s the exact kind I want for my camper remodel. I’m going to try a French Country theme and those comforters would be perfect!! Thanks

How cute, Laci! Our bedding came from Ikea. You can read all about it here. Good luck with the remodel. 🙂
