I always get so excited when I see makeovers that were inspired by other reader features here on the blog. This next makeover came to me from a reader named Dana, and she loved the table in Becca’s makeover so much, she decided to incorporate something similar in her own makeover.
Here is what Dana and her husband started with. It’s your basic, run-of-the-mill Coleman camper, just begging for a little TLC.
Dana and her husband removed most of the cabinets from the camper. Then, they taped off the edges of the cabinetry and primed and painted everything.
While they had everything disassembled and out of the camper, they also used Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint to give the cabinet hardware, swing galley handle, table legs, and kitchen faucet a whole new look.
Remember I told you that Dana loved Becca’s wood plank table? Well, she loved it so much, that she decided to replace all the countertop surfaces in her camper with wood planks. Dana’s husband came up with his own unique version of the “Becca Table” and incorporated it throughout the camper. While they were making changes, they removed the stove top in the swing galley to give them more counter space. Since Dana and her husband do most of their cooking outdoors, their stove was obsolete. They love all the counter space this little mod gave them. 🙂
Dana made all new curtains and valances for the camper, reusing her original hardware. (If you need a tutorial, we posted one here.) Instead of permanently lining her curtain panels, though, Dana made separate liners for each panel that attach with Velcro. Now she can remove the lining and wash it separately, as needed. Great idea, Dana.
She also sewed all new cushion covers, following the tutorial we posted here. Dana tells me she fought her way through the corners on this project, but I don’t know if I believe her! Those cushions look pretty amazing to me. 😉 The table was constructed in the same way as the countertops were. Doesn’t it look fabulous? I love that finish.
And to round out the remodel, Dana and her husband installed a floating plank vinyl floor, using quarter round trim to cover the gaps around the trailer walls and cabinets. Look at that floor! It matches the countertops and table perfectly.

What a beautiful transformation! It doesn’t even look like the same camper! I am constantly amazed when I see makeovers like this. It is obvious that Dana was inspired by Becca’s makeover, but her trailer looks completely unique–and I love that!

You’re right those counter tops are amazing and the red stripped cushion fabric too!!!
I’d like to know how they did the counter tops, did they glue the planks together or are the attached to a solid piece of wood?
Anna Parrish says
I, too, would love to know how they did their counter tops and table.

Looks fabulous! One question though…how does the white paint up? I’d be really worried about white in my trailer!
Larissa says
The white paint on our cabinets has held up fabulously. In fact, if we ever did another remodel, I would definitely go with white again. 🙂 Click here to see how we painted ours.

Dear Larissa,
We have a 98 Rockwood, it to needs some TLC. We have had it for a couple of years. I didn’t even know you could make modifications. We had made a couple of modifications, but want to do more to drag it into the present. I have been getting all sorts of ideas and can’t wait to put them into action. I live in Minnesota and right now it’s to cold to work on the camper. Oh I can’t wait to put it up and get going on my ideas. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks for all the ideas. Anne

Yay, Anne! I can’t wait to see it. Take lots of pictures. 😉
Katrina says
What did use to seal the counters and did you glue and nail the boards by themselves or is board under them?
Dana Riehl says
The counter tops have the boards screwed from underneath on a 1/4 inch plywood the table was 1/2 in plywood then we used a wood finish on before installing this way it could be installed assembled. Everything is still holding up great!
